Flexibility, Growth, and Opportunities

Greetings,

It is an understatement to say that 2020 will be a year that we will all remember.  We are all experiencing change on a daily basis.  It is my hope that we will look back at this year as an opportunity to learn new skills and have a better appreciation for the things we hold dear in this life.

As an organization, we have many opportunities to serve this year.  We can serve through advocacy for social justice.  We can serve by making our voices heard when it comes to ending racism and discrimination.  We can serve by shedding light on sex trafficking with the goal of this being an atrocity that will go away forever.  We can serve by demanding that everyone is treated humanely regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, cultural background, or socioeconomic status.  We can serve each other through accountability and ethical practice.  We can serve our communities by the use of research based practices.  Service is what we do because we are mental health professionals.

It is our hope that the Arkansas Counseling Association will lead the way in these efforts.  We will be providing free trainings throughout the year to help equip mental health professional throughout the state. We hope that you will join us as we serve together!

Sincerely,

Michael Jones, Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC, BC-TMH ArCA President, 2020-2021
